Nature’s Second Chance
So we farmers market managers busy ourselves trying to create a vibrant place for farmers and consumers meet and do business. It’s good for the environment, its good for local economies, and it’s good for protecting our heritage. But maybe there is an place for taking it all one step further. Not just making sure the family farm survives, but making sure that original natural open land with native vegetation also is saved.
Nature’s Second Chance: Restoring the Ecology of Stone Prairie Farm by Steven Apfelbaum is a chronicle of one man’s mission to restore an 80 acre farm back to the wild prarie and wetland it once was. I think it too is good for the environment and good for protecting our heritage.
