New England Cheeses found by Saxelby Cheesemongers
We have been working hard to fill in the gaps at the Harvard Farmers Market. Most notably, cheese. We have had some luck and will, on some weeks, be able to have Hanna-bells, Great Hill Blue, Marinated Feta, Goat cheese, and Jack cheese offered among others, but with so many possibilities for cheese, we are keeping at it to bring more new varieties.
Through my searches, I recently came across Saxelby Cheesemongers on Essex Street in Manhattan, a place that when I am next in the city will certainly search out. It was through their website though that I found a terrific interactive cheese map that you might be interested in.

Maybe I am (slightly) obsessed with finding new vendors to make the market better, but this reminds me of trips to France where every region offers a new and interesting collection of regional specialties which always include amazing cheeses. The map (based heavily in New England) shows a great collection of local farms where interesting and exciting artisnal cheeses are made, each with its own American terroir. Click over to Saxelby Cheesemongers to learn what is local to you.
